Transcend Services Lays off 151 Employees in New Delhi.

Another burst of bubble in the so called promising field of medical transcription. One of the oldest medical transcription offices in India has dropped the axe on its employees in New Delhi.

Transcend services fired 151 employees of its acquired company Heartland Transcription in New Delhi without any prior intimation earlier this month.

In a sudden change of events, the employees were dumbstruck when they discovered that the volumes have come to a standstill earlier this month. "We are not given any files to process here, the canteen has been shut, no computers or internet, and now they inform us that we are terminated and that too without any prior notice" says one the senior transcriptionists who stood by this company for the last 13 years. The case was presented before the Deputy Labour Commissioner who declared to "maintain status quo" on 5th of December 2011 and the date for hearing was fixed for 12th of December, 2011. Higher officials were called in from the head office in Georgia who visited New Delhi and 'passed the ball' to M.D. of the company who they found to be the apt person to resolve this situation.

The management was not available for any discussion. Later, the employees were made aware that were 'retrenched' and their 1 month 'basic salary' was credited in their accounts.

Transcend Services Inc., one of the leading provider of clinical documentation services to the U.S. healthcare market, had acquired Spryance, Inc. and its subsidiaries (d.b.a. "Heartland") on October 21, 2010.
